The mission of the Retired Faculty & Professional Staff Association is to provide a way for interested retired faculty and professional staff to have opportunities to continue their relationship with UNC Charlotte through work on important campus issues; attend sporting events; attend theater, dance, and music events; attend lectures and workshops; engage in other entertainment and social activities; and respond to any request from the University for their involvement.

Charlotte Museum of History Tour – RSVP Here

Members of the UNC Charlotte Retired Faculty and Professional Staff Association are invited to a special tour of the Charlotte Museum of History, 3500 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte NC 28215, followed by a Dutch treat lunch at Lang Van, a popular Vietnamese restaurant, 3019 Shamrock Drive on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Please arrive at 9:30 a.m. for check-in (to get nametags and pay admission fee, $7.50).

Tour, 10 a.m. to approximately 12 noon, followed by lunch:

 1774 Hezekiah Alexander Rock House and home site; the newly relocated Siloam School; and the new exhibit, “Meck Dec 250,” commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence.  Museum Board member and former Charlotte Observer reporter Fannie Flono to give a special tour of the Siloam School.

INFORMATION: To help the museum and the restaurant plan for our event, please reply for both the tour and lunch. Please wear comfortable walking shoes because the tour of the Rock House is about a 10-minute walk up a hill from the museum.  There are benches along the path if anyone needs to sit down for a moment.

DIRECTIONS AND PARKING:  For museum directions, use the address 3500 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte NC 28215.  Parking is free in the large lot adjacent to the museum and it includes several handicapped spaces.  The restaurant, at 3019 Shamrock Drive, is about a five-minute drive from the museum and has free parking in two lots, one in front of and one behind the restaurant.
